HD cannot be ignored any longer.

High Definition has become a powerful and affordable alternative to film and has many people changing their approaches to NTSC video production.

Jeff Moon Production Services is now positioned to provide for all aspects of digital electronic cinematography. We're pleased to announce the addition of two new High Definition camera packages: the incredible Sony HDW900 CineAlta camcorder system, the versatile Sony HDC950 system with a fiber optic link, and a Sony DVWF500 HDCam Studio recorder.  These packages, along with the Panasonic Varicam AJ-HDC27FP HD camera (which features variable frame rates) makes us the perfect choice for your HD production, because you have all the choices to pick from. It's not uncommon to shoot a day of running footage with the Panasonic HD camera in the variable frame rate and 3 days of studio footage with the Sony 900.

These three HD Camera packages can do all of the HD formats, including the "film - like" 24P format. This 24-frame rate progressive format resembles the look and feel of a feature film projected on a large screen.  Beautiful, sharp, clear images and sound with detail beyond anything we've seen before in standard video formats. We can help you choose the right cameras and formats to satisfy your creative needs in post.

The implementation of this latest HD technology is growing at an incredible rate (with industry estimates at nearly 1000% annually), and is the same technology that is being used by top Hollywood Directors, such as George Lucas (Star Wars Episode II), Robert Altman, James Cameron  (Ghosts of the Abyss) and Steven Spielberg, just to name a few.

The commercial world is also experimenting with new creative techniques involving High Definition in many local and national commercials. A recent article in Millimeter Magazine explains the approaches that are being taken by many agencies.  The ad agencies that we are involved with are selectively choosing the clients and projects that will greatly benefit by using HD as the acquisition format. Although hesitant at first, Detroit Optometric Centers (D.O.C) and Pizza Hut are two clients that are very pleased with the new results.

There are currently 45 episodic shows and sitcoms being produced in High Definition by major studios across the United States for network television, up from just 4 being produced in 2001 and 13 produced last year.  These HD cameras and processes have many advantages over 35mm film, which is why so many are changing over to the HD format.  Some of the advantages are the instant playback capabilities on the set and quicker turnaround for post production, not to mention the cost savings of film, processing and tape transfers.

Once you've experienced the world of High Definition, you'll understand what all the excitement is about. Contact Jeff for an informative HD demonstration to your production group.
