With the emergence of rising
star Danica Patrick and her headline grabbing fourth place
finish in the Indianapolis 500, some would say that 2005 was the
year that women finally broke through in the sport of
auto
racing. Before the Firestone Indy 400 IRL race in late July, Fox
Sports correspondent Chris Myers produced a full
half hour show on location at Michigan International Speedway
that featured the 2005 IRL rookie of the year and her thoughts
on her 4th place finish in the Indy 500, her acceptance by the
male drivers in her sport, her upcoming marriage, and more.
Utilizing two standard def 24p Panasonic SDX900s, staff digital
imaging technician Tony D'Annunzio, and cameramen Charlie Scott
and Rueben Rodriguez worked their usual magic, along with makeup
artist Cheryl Seprino. Although she qualified eighth for Rahal/Letterman
racing, she finished 20th due to mechanical problems.
